Satiate huger through agroecology in the world
Satisfying hungry people and that too with dignity is a noble task. Today, when humanity is needed the most with global pandemics striking in, is the most difficult task too. There are many organizations, that are striving hard to feed as many hungry people as possible, different methods of agriculture are being processed.
Agricultural
lands tend to lose their richness due to many possibilities and the most
prominent one is environmental hazards. Agriculture and Food security is the
basic need of any population for basic survival. And with the lands losing
their richness it is difficult to produce nourished plantations.
Just
offering food for Hunger relief in
Africa, Kenya might not be enough but, the food provided to them needs to
have basic nourishment. And for that matter, agroecology is speeding up.
In
this article, some points about what is agroecology are mentioned along with
what are the basic principles of agroecology. With Route to food Initiative, agroecology farming is the most practiced
way of farming especially in countries with constant droughts.
Agroecology
is a type of farming where there is an application of the ecological process to
the production of the crops. As no harmful chemicals are involved in the
process of production it is the best deal for the environment as well as
humans.
Right to food in Kenya's constitution deals with the situation
where giving food is necessary but the food provided needs to be full of
nourishment and has to be provided with dignity. But this nourishment would not
be possible through regular farming methods. Hence, agroecology plays a vital
role.
But
why is this agroecology so important. What are the principles of this type of
farming?
The
Food
security bill in Kenya, states that the food provided to any human
needs to be provided with dignity and needs to have a sumptuous amount of
nourishment. This means the food needs to be free from any chemical, needs to
have vitamins, minerals, and other things that are necessary for growth as well
as for providing energy to humans.
And
this being the basic principle of agroecology the other principles are,
·
Salvaging the environment and saving it from harmful
pesticides.
·
Saving the soil from erosion
·
Efficient uses of the already present resources
·
Protection of ecosystem
·
Strengthening of people or communities by providing wholesome
food.
·
Supporting rural communities in terms of providing them work
for their livelihood
And
so on.
The
main concept of agroecology is to protecting both humans as well as the
environment. One by feeding them nutritious and wholesome food and second by
not harming the ecosystem in the process of farming.
And that is why the process of agroecology is being accepted worldwide!
